What are at home care programs?

At-home care programs are designed to support older individuals who need assistance to live independently within their homes. These services are part of a broader aged care system, which includes residential care and home care services.

Government-funded programs like the Commonwealth Home Support Program for basic daily task assistance and the Home Care Packages Program, for more comprehensive service needs are available to those requiring in-home help services.

Packages offered include:

Home Care Package Level 1

Provides services to meet Basic Care needs.

Home Care Package Level 2

Provides Low-Level Care needs that helps the person to live independently at home.

Home Care Package Level 3

Provides support for people who have Intermediate Level Care needs.

Home Care Package Level 4

Provides support for people with the Maximum Level of Care to help them live safely and comfortably at home. It is expected that more people will be assessed as eligible for a lower level package, with smaller number being assessed as needing higher level packages.
